Bengaluru based space tech startup Pixxel has secured $100 million in Series C funding, the largest single funding round raised by an Indian space technology company, taking its total funding to $195 million.

Indian space tech company Pixxel has raised $100 million (around ₹945 crore) in a Series C funding round co-led by Singapore based investment firm Temasek and UK space tech investor Seraphim. The round also saw participation from new investors 360 ONE Asset and IMM Investment, while existing backers including Radical Ventures and growX Ventures increased their support. The latest investment makes this the biggest single funding round secured by an Indian space tech company. With the fresh investment, Pixxel’s total capital raised has reached $195 million, placing the company among the most heavily funded space tech startups in India. Founded by Awais Ahmed and Kshitij Khandelwal, Pixxel initially built its business around hyperspectral satellite imaging.

Unlike conventional satellite cameras, hyperspectral systems capture information across numerous wavelengths, allowing them to identify details about materials and changes on Earth that may not be easily visible in ordinary imagery. The company has since expanded its ambitions beyond satellite imaging to build a broader Earth intelligence business. Pixxel plans to use the new funding to strengthen its satellite and Earth observation infrastructure. A major focus will be its upcoming Honeybee constellation, with the first satellite expected to launch in 2027. The company is also working on adding technologies such as synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and ultra high resolution optical imaging to complement its hyperspectral capabilities. Alongside hardware, Pixxel plans to invest further in Aurora, its Earth intelligence software platform. The system is designed to bring together data from different satellite sensors and turn it into information that can support decision making.

Pixxel has already deployed six Firefly satellites and says they form the world's highest resolution commercial hyperspectral constellation. The company has also secured contracts with NASA and the US National Reconnaissance Office and has participated in Indian defence related innovation programmes. The startup has additionally been selected to lead the development of India's first public private Earth observation constellation of 12 satellites under IN-SPACe. For Pixxel, the latest investment represents a shift from being primarily a hyperspectral imaging company towards becoming a broader planetary infrastructure and intelligence platform. The company aims to combine satellites, advanced sensors, software and data to provide governments and businesses with more detailed information about a rapidly changing planet.
